Wedge Shaped Posture Cushion

SASTAT Posted on 22nd Feb 2018 by Cheryl31st May 2018

The Wedge Shaped Posture Cushion helps to restores the spine’s natural shape and removes excessive pressure on the spine. The wedge-shaped design encourages the movement of the hip joints, enabling you to keep your spine easily aligned.

The foam is very firm so it can support your weight, thereby giving your pelvis and back the support they need when working on a computer, driving, or for most other active sitting positions.

The dark blue cover is easy to clean and removable for washing. Approximate cushion dimensions: 350 mm x 350 mm. Wedge at thickest end is 60 mm and tapers to 15 mm.

For more information or to place an order, contact Thea Kreft on 011 886 8665 or theakreft@mweb.co.za.

The Art of Walking

SASTAT Posted on 22nd Feb 2018 by Cheryl8th Mar 2018

‘The Art of Walking – Path to Health & the Richness of Well-Being’

Available directly from author:

Alexander Technique teacher:
Marguerite Osler (van der Merwe)
Website: Body Sense
E-mail: margsmerwe@telkomsa.net
Phone: +27 (0)28 271-4555

“In every lifetime where is a special encounter with someone whose work has a profound effect on you, and Marguerite is that guru and teacher of lightness of being and skilful awareness to many people… Her commitment to the teachings of Alexander, and also of poets, musicians and mystical teachers are, we know, a critically necessary part of our awakening to the necessities for our continued life on our beautiful planet… Her book ‘The Art of Walking’ perhaps ought one day to find its place amongst the mandatory study in schools and universities – as an instruction manual or guide, and/or recommended reading.” – Judith Todd

Testimonials

“I felt so revitalized after the lesson.  I have been feeling taller and people are asking me if I am wearing high heels! People see my posture change and my new uprightness.”
KP
“We teach people to become aware of the unnecessary strain and over-tension they make in everything they do, so that they need not continue to misuse themselves in this way.”
Marjory Alexander Barlow
“I’m so glad that through the Technique I saw the need for lightness.  Without this, I don’t think I’ll be able to make further progress in Tai Chi.”
WW
“I have less pain.  I can differentiate whether it is pain from something I am doing, how I am sitting or standing, or if I did something for too long and need to change.”
KP
“The Alexander Technique makes a real difference to my often tense and busy life. Its thoughtful approach has made me calmer, improved my concentration and given me a clearer sense of well-being.”
JB
“97% of people with back pain could benefit by learning Alexander Technique. Only a small minority of back pain sufferers require medical intervention such as surgery.”
Jack Stern, spinal neurosurgeon
“The use of the body in proper poise ensures the least friction and consequently the greatest amount of energy available for what may be required of the individual.”
Raymond Dart, Anthropologist
“Everything has changed…not only my cello sound…but also my approach to my body, shoulders, neck, back and the way I walk, all of which influences the way I think.”
GD
“My cello and piano teachers have noticed improved sound.  It was previously defined as ‘miniscule’ and now they are saying it is ‘expressive’.”
GD
“By balancing and neutralising tensions, I’ve learnt to relieve as well as avoid the aches and pains caused by the thousands of natural shocks that flesh is heir to.”
Kevin Kline, actor
